Public Invited to Submit Restoration Projects for Refugio Beach Oil Spill

November 6, 2015

The Trustees for the Refugio beach oil spill have announced that they are requesting project restoration ideas from the public. The trustees work with the public to select and implement restoration projects which are best suited to benefit injured wildlife, habitats and/or lost services. Although the restoration projects selected for this case will depend on the nature of the injuries, some general examples of restoration include replanting wetlands, improving fish access sites, and restoring bird habitat.

The Trustees have also released an update on the status of the injury assessment. This update provides the latest figures on injuries and potential injuries to fish, birds, and mammals.

If you are interested in proposing a project, e-mail to RefugioRestoration@fws.gov or fax to (805) 644-3958. Any and all restoration ideas are encouraged, even if they don't include all of the specific details requested in the form.
